Highlights of the Sony Handycam NEXVG10 Camcorder:
The biggest highlights of the Sony Handycam NEXVG10 are by far the interchangeable lens and sensor systems. The NEXVG10 comes standard with a 11x zoom, 18-200mm Optical SteadyShot™ image-stabilized lens. You do have the option to step up and add your favorite A-mount lenses, including the award-winning G lens and Carl Zeiss® lenses, via an adaptor, which are sold separately. The Sony E-Mount lens provides an effective focal range of 27mm-300mm (35mm equivalent) providing unrivaled versatility. Made to shoot video, it also includes a silent auto-focus (AF) system coupled with Active Mode, giving you the flexibility of a removable lens with the ergonomics and operability of a Handycam® camcorder. To make your movies even more true to life, the Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor comes through with 19.5 times the surface area of conventional camcorders resulting in an unrivaled depth of field.
The Sony NEXVG10 Interchangeable Lens Handycam represents the first-ever large sensor video camera, which merges the outstanding features of rival video DSLRs such as rich colors, enhanced light sensitivity, and shallow depth-of-field with the desired shape, size, and functionality of a camcorder. You no longer have to rig your video enabled DSLR with accessories that cost twice as much as the camera, and waste your time to funnel your video through the tiny sensors and fixed lenses of camcorders past. It is the perfect blend to get you the videos and images you desire. The brains of the Handycam NEXVG10 is a refined version of Sony’s BIONZ image processor.Delivering high-resolution, low-noise photos at higher ISO settings is accomplished with its chroma noise reduction. You get faster processing at up to 7 fps continuous shooting of data-intensive 14.2 megapixel images, and 6 image layering. The BIONZ image processor provides Data Noise Reduction, Faster Image processing, and Data compression enabling high quality 24Mbps video recording.
Video Capabilities in the Sony Handycam NEXVG10
The NEXVG10 can capture video in full 1920 x 1080 high definition at up to 24Mbps for amazing clarity and detail. This is ideal for recording to Blu-ray Disc media as the AVCHD codec is highly compatible with the Blu-ray format. In fact, high definition AVCHD discs can be created using standard DVD media, the supplied software and a compatible PC. DVD media containing AVCHD footage may be played on a compatible Blu-ray Disc player/recorder, PC with supplied software or PlayStation3 devices. However, the DVD media containing AVCHD footage should not be used with standard DVD based players, as the DVD player may fail to eject the media and could erase its contents without warning.
The Handycam NEXVG10 Also Takes Your Still Photography To The Next Level
The built in High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography captures more scene contrast than a single exposure can by taking three consecutive shots all at different exposure values and then combines the best highlight and shadow detail from them to build a single incredible shot. This feature is ideal for situations where severe backlighting is present or when photgraphing other high-contrast scenes or stills. There is even an Anti Blur Mode, which is perfect for situations with poor lighting or when using a telephoto lens. The Anti Motion Blur mode takes 6 consecutive shots in a split second, and adds them up the best of each individual image to create a single image with superior clarity and detail. This is ideal for minimizing subject movement in low lighting conditions.
